PAUSE Parenting Program
Parenting Alliance for Understanding, Support and Education
The PAUSE Program was designed to assist parents in
assessing and addressing potentially destructive parenting
attitudes, and building on parenting skills. The program is
offered to parents in the Kansas City, Missouri metropolitan
area and surrounding counties.
PAUSE is a twelve-week intensive program utilizing group
therapy, testing, assessment, one-on-one direct assistance,
and written reports of progress. Anyone can attend PAUSE,
including expectant parents, teen parents, and parents with
developmental delays. PAUSE focuses on abuse prevention
and promotion of a safe, nurturing environment for children.
Parents are referred to PAUSE from a variety of agencies,
including the Missouri Children's Division, Department of
Health, Department of Mental Health, Probation and Parole,
Catholic Charities, the Mattie Rhodes Center, and others.
Parents involved with the Children's Division receive
additional assistance specific to that agency, and also with
the Courts with whom they may be involved.
