Parenting Assessments
Parenting assessments are often requested by courts or by child
protection agencies who are concerned about a parent's direct care
skills or potentially destructive child-rearing beliefs.
Typically, parenting assessments consist of a clinical interview, direct
observation of parent-child interactions, review of records, and
interviews with other service providers working with the parent.
Parenting assessments can be particularly helpful in identifying areas of
need, parenting strengths, potentially destructive parenting attitudes
and child-rearing practices, treatment needs, and placement
recommendations for children.
